Sea Kayak

CRETE IS AN IDEAL PLACE FOR MARITIME ACTIVITIES.

In recent years more and more people do windsurfing and sea kayak in Crete. With sea kayak you can enjoy unique routes along the northern and the southern coasts and approach unexplored bays.

In southern Crete there are wonderful routes for beginners and experienced ones. You start at Palaiochora, go past the beach Gialiskari, stop at the bay of ancient Lissos and end at Sougia. The distance is about 12 miles.

From Sougia it is possible to reach Agia Roumeli, through Pefki (where there were mineral water spas in the past), Agios Antionis (right on the beach), Prophitis Ilias (at the exit of the Gorge of Tripiti), the majestic area of Domata, Fournoti and the bay of Agia Roumeli.

From Agia Roumeli, the route to Loutro goes past Agios Pavlos, an impressive church of the 11th century, built literally on the waves, under the forest of Agios Ioannis. Through Trapezia, the idyllic area of Marmara (with the beautiful caves and the impressive rocks in front of the exit of the Gorge of Aradaina) and the bay of the ancient city of Phoenix you finally reach the majestic bay of Loutro.

From Loutro you can make day excursions to Glyka Nera and Chora Sfakion. Excursions to the beach at the exit of the Gorge of Aradaina also take place.
