ANEK LINES has a large modern fleet which includes 11 company-owned ships, its luxury flagship being the ultra-modern ‘ELYROS’. The company offers its services in nearly 50 ports in the Adriatic and Greece. On the ground floor of the building there is a seminar, training and event room, which can operate autonomously as a modern, high quality conference centre with seating capacity for 500 people.

Technical characteristics

In the 750 m² hall, there is the option to view audiovisual material via computer controlled video-projector or optical disc. The technical infrastructure includes a fully equipped microphone system and audiovisual recording capabilities.

The mezzanine floor, which acts as the electronic and sound support space, can also be used for translation centre installations. The Conference Centre also has the advantage of a large carpark, and a modern foyer reception area. In the impressive glass-covered foyer, there are all the necessary support facilities necessary for conferences (capacity to set up helpdesks, provide catering services, snacks, bar, etc.)

The main hall has a surface area of 200m². It has a seating capacity of 340, and is flanked by two galleries with 40 more seats each (total seating capacity 380). The room is also properly equipped with the requisite air conditioning and fire suppression systems.

The headquarters of the Cooperative Bank of Chania are located in the city centre of Chania, at 28-32, Venizelos St. It is a privately owned building built to the latest modern specifications, that nevertheless blends harmoniously into the town planning network of Chania. It is a natural point of reference, and an aesthetically attractive architectural feature of the area.

The head offices of the Cooperative Bank of Chania were inaugurated in 2007. It has nine floors housing its administrative offices and the main branch of the Bank. The Conference Room of the Cooperative Bank of Chania is in the second basement level of the building. Beyond the use of the hall by the bank itself, the Board of Directors has agreed, in the context of corporate social responsibility, to offer the space without charge to non-profit associations and organizations for the holding of events aimed at raising awareness and informing the public on social, cultural and economic issues.

The room, decorated in the colours of the Bank, holds 150 people, and offers state-of-the-art infrastructure facilities in microphone installations, computer and video display systems.

The Technical University of Crete, after 25 years in Chania, has become a well established educational and research centre of excellence in Greek and international scientific communities.

At the same time, it serves as a point of attraction and impetus for the constantly expanding scientific and cultural life of the region, by organising or hosting academic lectures, scientific meetings and conferences at its campus facilities.

The campus is situated in a location with a stunning panoramic view of the Chania Akrotiri peninsula, eight kilometres northeast of the city of Chania on a site covering 2,900,000 metres of land.

The Orthodox Academy of Crete (OAC) is a modern Conference Center situated in an exceptionally beautiful location only a few meters from the sea, and next to the Gonia Monastery (17th Century). It is situated 24 kilometers from the city of Chania (or Canea), and 39 kilometers frοm its international airport. The OAC is an independent non-profit Institution, reporting to the Metropolis of Kisamos and Selinon, and operating under the spiritual protection of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople.

Conference Experience And Infrastructure

Since its opening in 1968 until the end of 2015, more than 2.200 conferences have taken place, of which over 50% were on an international level. The OAC offers all the facilities necessary to meet the most demanding requirements. It provides:

– a multi-purpose hall with a capacity of 730 people that can be divided into 3 independent rooms (2×250 and 1×70 persons),

– a conference room with a capacity of 120 people

additional 6 meeting rooms (1×60, 2×30, 1×20 and 2×10 seats), offices for consultations, secretariats, areas for exhibits, and also charming places for outdoor events.

Equipment

The OAC is fully equipped with the apparatus and systems modern technology offers in order to cover all conference needs. Among these are: three independent systems of simultaneous translation with 7 translator booths, video projectors, slides and overhead projectors, screens, audio and visual recording of conferences, mobile loudspeaker systems, internet room, wireless internet connection, photocopiers, satellite antenna, VCR, DVD, poster boards, etc..

An International Conference Center conceived with respect to the environment, dedicated to accommodate Academic and Research Conferences, Seminars, Workshops, Summer Schools, Exhibitions with a full range of integrated organizational support services. MAICh Conference Center, established in 1990, offers multipurpose versatility, state of the art technology and high quality standards of service in the highest value for money. It is situated in a picturesque, typical Mediterranean pine-tree forest setting, 3 km south-east of the city of Chania, 13 km from the international airport and 2 km from the port of Souda.

It can host up to 13 parallel sessions with total capacity 600 attendees. MAICh’s Conference department combines knowledge, professionalism, consistency and the expertise of highly skilled personnel and executive staff to organize meetings and conferences assisted by specific conference management software. It facilitates functions relevant to conference organization such as marketing, budgeting, advertising, scientific program, social program, web design and registration. It also offers secretarial multilingual services before, during and after the event.

The Conference Center Bureau of the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Chania has been certified by DQS GmbH with DIN EN ISO 9001: 2008 for the organisation and accommodation of conferences and related activities.

The Public Benefit Foundation “Agia Sofia”” was built in the late 1970s by former Metropolitan Bishop of Kissamos and Selino, Ireneos Galanakis. Located at 25th km of the Chania – Rethymno national road, it consists of a two storey building with a total area of 785 m2 per floor.

As of April 2007, together with the Foundation, the Regional Press Institute has also been established there, and, at its own expense, has carried out the full renovation of the interior and exterior of the building.

There is a conference hall with a 150 person seating capacity equipped with:

• A 6 person panel installation, with full microphone system
• Speaker’s podium, with microphone installation
• Wireless microphone system, for audience participation
• Slide projector
• Two wings with modern hotel facilities, with 18 double rooms
• Restaurant with seating capacity for 60 persons
• Exhibition Hall displaying the work of Greek cartoonists
• Offices of the Institute and the Foundation hosting other organizations (University Environmental Facility, the Programme “Home Help”, Apokoronas Development S.A).

The Center for Mediterranean Architecture (CMA) is a municipal company founded in 1996 by the Municipality of Chania. Since 2002 it has been housed in the Great Arsenal at the historical Venetian Harbor of Chania. The main mission of the CMA is to organize activities and events related to architecture. Emphasis is placed on promoting the Mediterranean features of architecture. The CMA aspires to instill respect for the natural and man-made environments. The latter should be valued as a product of culture.

Facilities of the Great Arsenal

The building houses the CMA but also functions as a hall for lectures, conferences, exhibits, concerts, theatrical performances, etc. It consists of the following parts.

Spaces 6, 7, 8 may function as one exhibit room, whereas 7 and 8 are used for lectures, conferences, and similar activities.

The Foundation premises are located in the residence of Eleftherios Venizelos in Elena Venizelou square in Halepa, Chania. Since November 2005, the Vloom mansion, which has been restored and is located opposite Venizelos residence, accommodates the Administrative and Scientific Services of the Foundation. In August 2007, the building was renamed into “Metropolitan Irineos Galanakis” Mansion, in the honor of the Foundation Chairman.

In the mansion there is “Stavros S. Niarchos” conference room, with a capacity of 180 persons. In addition, in the library of the Foundation there is a projection screen which allows the simultaneous projection of the events that are taking place in the conference room. The capacity of the library is up to 40 persons.
